Mentoring
No matter how deep or wide an organisation’s internal resources, sometimes an external mentor is the answer.
Mentoring
A mentoring relationship is usually fairly long-term and happens within an organisation, between a senior manager, leader or role model and someone less experienced but looking to grow in their role and in the organisation.
But what do you do if you’re looking around your organisation for a mentor but there’s no-one who seems appropriate, or willing, to take on that responsibility? This can be a particularly common problem for those who have been promoted to, or externally appointed into, a new role. It’s those career transitions where mentoring can be particularly valuable but, ironically, it’s precisely those situations in which it can be hard to find a mentor from within the organisation.
If you’ve been appointed to the board, you might want an external mentor who’s been through the same process once or twice before you. If you’ve been appointed Head of HR, or finance, or any other function, then a coach/mentor who’s also been on that same journey might be just the right person to help.
We have a large ‘pool’ of independent coaches and mentors. The chances are that at least one of them has dealt with challenges similar to yours, and has useful knowledge and experience from which you can benefit. Give us a call on 01582 463460, or use the contact form below, to tell us a little about your situation and see whether we have anyone who might be able to help. What have you got to lose?
