For some time now, the mobile device – or smartphone – has had a critical part to play in our connection to others, whether for information or for commerce. There is very little our mobiles cannot do for us – they are the office in the pocket. Learning via your mobile device has, though, been restricted to Googling for information, some reading (although the smaller screens made this difficult) and some YouTube content.

That’s changing. Now that 3G is becoming 4G and that wifi-enabled smartphones with better processors are becoming faster at downloading, the mobile has come of age as a legitimate learning device. Add tablets with bigger screens and learning can come to you rather than you going to it.

A few organisations spotted this and have already made mobile-optimised, off-the-shelf learning content – short 2-5 minute video clips with interactive Q&As and voiceover animations giving ‘pull-down’ learning for people when they most need it. Our unique relationship with the UK’s leading provider means that we can offer a library of more than 70 modules around key business skills at very competitive rates.

As with any other L&D intervention, however, we feel that m-learning is at its best when tailored to the organisation. And we are now working with clients to do just that. Bespoke modules can be built for around £3-4k per unique production from start to finish, including filming, animation and cross-platform production/deployment. Or a mixture of bespoke and ‘off-the-shelf’ can deliver an even greater return on investment in the right circumstances.

Intrigued? If you’re thinking about m-learning but are not too sure about your next step, please just give us a call on 01582 714280 and we’ll put you in touch directly with our m-learning expert for a no-obligation discussion as to how we might be able to help you.
