Global Training Programme
Case study: a global training programme
A global programme for a major FMCG company. Over 150 days training a year, 44 countries, a dozen different languages. How do we do it?
In 2006 a major FMCG company (a confidentiality agreement prevents us from naming them here) announced that they were outsourcing their global management development requirement. As a long-standing training provider for this company in the UK (they were our first client, back in 1998), we were invited to tender for delivery of specific training courses across the globe. The company received proposals from 1,500 training providers around the world. Following a rigorous selection procedure, they awarded us one of about a dozen contracts to develop and deliver courses on a global basis.
The client chose us because we were able to demonstrate:
- Capability to deliver on a global scale
- High quality control
- Consistency of delivery
- High calibre programme design
We run the following one- and two-day programmes under the contract:
- Career and development planning
- Facilitation skills
- Giving and receiving feedback
- Influencing skills
- Time and priority management
We have now delivered these courses in 44 different countries and a dozen different languages using our global network of associate trainers. We have consistently exceeded not only the SLA Key Performance Indicators but also the global average of all providers under the contract, which places us firmly in the upper quartile and which gave the client the confidence to extend our contract from two years to six and then again to ten. We are still delivering around 150 days training a year under the contract, with participant satisfaction ratings averaging 94.6% (some 2 to 3 percentage points higher than the global average for the other providers). Our client is very happy – and anonymous!
