We use a range of profiling tools, such as MBTI, Insights and HAY (ESCI – emotional and social competency inventory). If a client is already using a particular tool then we can work with that, but otherwise we might recommend DiSC or our preferred tool, Facet5.
The DiSC profile is a very good tool and increasingly popular. Benefits of using the DISC profile include being able to discover your and others’ behavioural strengths and gaining insight into the value of both your behavioural strengths and those of others. This knowledge and leverage can help you discover how to effectively deal with situations that require conflict management, communication enhancement, increased team effectiveness and leadership or management skills development. DiSC is also used to determine and learn about communication styles, management styles, and influencing styles.
We also suggest you consider using Facet5. This is a model of personality, which allows leaders and managers to understand how people differ in their behaviour, motivation, attitudes and aspirations. It is based on recent developments in personality theory and management development and yet is simple and practical to use. It takes approximately 20 minutes to complete online. It is based on the responses of thousands of managers and professionals and the graphical output is easily understood. We can provide you with a sample report if required.
Facet5 is a particularly useful tool for kick-starting a leadership and coaching programme. Giving one-to-one feedback on a Facet5 profile automatically leads into a coaching conversation.
The simplicity and robustness of Facet5 makes it ideal for use in any situation where individual differences are important. HR professionals and line management alike can use it to understand and manage staff individually and in teams. It also provides a solid structure for individuals to learn about themselves, their interactions with others and the strategies available to ensure effective teamwork. Facet5 works at all levels from individual assessment through selection, recruitment and team integration. It can even be extended to understand culture and values at a team or corporate level.

The Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI) describes bright-side or normal personality – qualities that show how we relate to those around us when we are performing at our best. Assessing normal personality, whether the goal is to develop stronger leaders or find the right people to hire, gives you a valuable insight into how people actually work, how they lead others and how successful they will be.

The purpose of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) personality inventory is to make C. G. Jung’s theory of psychological types understandable and beneficial in people’s lives. The theory, in essence, is that often seemingly random variations in behaviour is in fact rather orderly and consistent, owing to basic differences in the ways individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment.
